Boss CS-3/Compressors every bit make clean boosts?

So I picked up a Dominate CS-3 the other solar day but to effort out. I've been getting into country so it seemed a decent enough place to first with compressors. Thing is, I've found I'm generally not mad on compression and the lack of dynamics it brings about, something I tend to apply a lot in my playing. It's absurd for that mega-compressed chicken pickin' thing but aside from that, I'chiliad more into the Paisley-style tones over the 'usual' country thing.
Anyways, I was thinking of simply off-loading the pedal but seeing as I'thousand eyeing up a couple of boost/OD pedals I had the idea to try the CS-3 as a clean boost. I take it I just dial upward the level above unity proceeds and dial the set on and sustain downward, with the tone to taste? My tone is pretty middy as it is so I dunno if a TS-9 or such like would end upward being simply pure honk on top of an already middy tone.
Any thoughts?

Compressors can make not bad clean boosts. They as well piece of work well for adding a bit more sustain without increasing the corporeality of gain or max volume. Whatsoever fourth dimension that I have a crystal clean tone I always prefer to striking it with a touch of compression. I like using pinch equally more of a subtle effect, the settings that you describe audio like a good kickoff.
If you want a heave that adds a bit of color, I just picked upwardly an EPboost and I'thousand loving information technology and so far. The pedal does take a very subtle mid hump though, zip similar a ts style pedal.

I had the CS-iii with Monte Allums Opto Plus Modernistic. It does cut downwardly on the heavy squish so you can use information technology as a booster or with less compression. The tone knob was great on those as you can really dial in some high end that might normally become compressed out of your tone. You could try the mod or offload the pedal earlier spending more on it if y'all are really wanting just a make clean boost.
A lot of country guys really similar the Bad Bad Booster sold through AnalogMan.
