How To Remove Bissell Spot Clean Hose

Hello to my fellow DYIers! In this post, I am going to give you step by step instructions on how to replace a hose on your Bissell SpotClean Pro 3624.  Updated on 6/10/2020 I have added a video for those who don't like to read, you can also click the YouTube buttom above but for those who do reading…Carry on..

First things you are going to need are:

1. Patience

2. Bissell Replacement hose –

3. ( Tip – you need at least a 4-inch philips screwdriver.)

4. I recommend using a needle nose pliers (It's not needed but will help if you received the hose replacement with the incorrect hose connector)

5. About 30 mins and space to lay out parts

As a furbaby parent, I found that the Bissell 3624 Hose Professional Spot Cleaner is a great tool to have, even if you do not have a furbaby, the Bissell 3624 Hose Professional Spot Cleaner is portable, light and fairly easy to use.

One day as I was putting the hose back in its clip the hose started to rip right at the edge of where the connector and the hose attachment meet. My first recommendation is to not force the hose in the slot, this will ensure you will need to replace the hose sooner than just letting it lay on top of the vacuum when not in use. Here are some photos of the taped up hose I was using, it was time to replace it since the tape was not holding up like it use too.

Instead of purchasing a new Bissell 3624 Hose Professional Spot Cleaner, I opted to fix it. I thought to myself, this shouldn't be too hard. The hose replacement at the time I purchased was approx $32 USD. I purchased it from Amazon.

It is not hard but without instructions, you are left unscrewing extra screws because you will be basically disassembling the whole thing, this is where the patience part comes in. Hopefully, with my step by step instructions, this will help anyone else that has this same issue. I tried to find any guides online but had no luck so wanted to share my experience in hopes that you learn from mistakes.

Let's begin.

First, take your Bissell 3624 Hose Professional Spot Cleaner to an area you can spread out like a kitchen table or a floor. The reason you want same space because when you are removing each part, you can keep each part and screw in its own section so when you are assembling it back together, this extra step will make it much easier.

Once you have all your supplies from above you will detach both the solution tank and the waste tanks from the unit and set aside. Next, you will remove the circle sticker that covers the hose wrap on the vacuum you should be able to feel a spot at the bottom of the round grey sticker on the side where there is a void behind. Carefully push a flathead screwdriver or your nails into this, and pull back to gain leverage to remove the sticker. Peel slowly with even pressure to avoid damaging it.

Now remove the five screws that hold the hose wrap to the side casing. Place the hose wrap with the 5 screws in one section on your table or floor.

Next, you will need to remove the six screws that hold the outer shell to the unit. Two are at the bottom of each side and one at the very top of the arc.
Here is a view of the hose holder side ( there are 3 screws on each side)

Here is the cord wrap assembly side photo

Set aside the 6 screws, do not try to remove the outer cover yet! You need to remove the three screws that are on the cord wrap assembly. Two are in holes in the wrap arm and one is under where the solution tank sits.

At this point, the hose wrap and the cord wrap are removed and the outer shell can be completely removed. It should look like the photos after you remove the outer shell:

Between the two chimney-shaped tubes that feed the waste tank, there are two screws attaching them to the motor housing assembly. Remove these next.

Now remove the four screws that hold the lid of the motor housing onto the body. Two are in deep pits toward the outside of the unit and the other two are exposed toward the middle. I had to use a right-angle screwdriver to do the middle ones since they are underneath an overhang, but it may be possible to remove them carefully at an angle with a bigger screwdriver.
There are two screws on each side:

and two more on the deep pits towards the outside

This is where you need to longer screwdriver to reach the two screws

The T Valve I removed from the new hose replacement

Lift the cover off of the motor housing to uncover the motor:
and use needle nose pliers to loosen the hose clamps that attach the sprayer hose connector. NOTE: In my case, the hose replacement order had a T-Valve connector but my Bissell has a single connector.

Here is the single connector that was already on my vacuum:

Photo is after I removed the existing hose with pliers
Old hose without the single hose adaptor which is still connected to the vacuum.

I removed the broken hose by prying off it off carefully not to break or rip it. ( this took a few minutes as it is on there pretty tight, having the needle nose pliers really help loosen it so I could remove both the single connector and the T-Valve connector on my new replacement hose)

Move the black small clamp first to the hose adaptor. There are one you need to remove, just the black small one. Do not move the silver one like I did.
Do not move the silver clamps as it is not needed to remove the old hose off. I made that mistake but it was easy to put back, you just pinch the two clips to loosen.
I attached the new hose to the single (white adaptor) and made sure it was secure, then replaced the small black clamp to secure it further. (Note you do not need to mess with the silver clamp unless you moved it like I did)

Next, either attach the new hose's T-shaped connector or the single connector ( this will depend on your model) and put the hose clamps back into place.  I'm not sure why Bissell 3624 models are different. Could be the design has changed. I bought mine years ago.

Make sure the rubber gasket around the solution hose lines up with the notch in the motor housing, then reattach the lid and screws.

Now its time to reassemble. Reattach the two chimney screws.

Here is a tip, make sure hook this it on and align the holes first then screw in.

Reattach the outer shell pieces, making sure all the tabs that lock them together are correctly aligned, then reattach the six outer shell casing screws you removed in step two.

This is the outer casing reassembled. Make sure to not force it or you could break the clips on the cord holder side. The one screw on under the detergent container should be the last screw you put back in.

Reattach the three cord wrap screws and finally, reattach the hose wrap and it's five screws, then reattach the round grey sticker.

After that, you should be ready to test out your new hose out!
